Our HLF Young Roots Project
This exciting commemorative project for young people is called Remembering the First World War – What it means to us.
View the project outlines below:
The project runs over two years (2014-2016), and enables four separately drawn geographical communities in Devon (Tiverton, Barnstaple, Dartmoor and Dawlish) to explore local stories and happenings from that time and provides opportunities for local young people to make a creative response to their research which is then shared widely through exhibitions, a film and a touring show.
Daisi director, Liz Hill said
We are thrilled to have received the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund and are confident that our project will support young people to actively participate in the First World War commemorations.
Daisi brings professional artists and creative practitioners to work alongside young people and communities. Our vision is for artistic and cultural experience to be at the heart of people’s lives and learning.
We work across all art forms – from dance to literature, media arts to music – and with children and young people across Devon and Torbay, both in and out of school.
Daisi provides information, advice and development opportunities for artists, young people and educators. We advocate for the positive impact of arts.
Daisi works in partnership with schools, learning communities, young people, cultural organisations, community groups, businesses and artists to develop arts opportunities and to make them happen.
